who has a detroit locker?
i need some input on how these feel in daily driving. i drive mostly in straight lines and dont really turn that much since i dont live in a city. but how are they for daily driving? is it aggrevating or do you get used to it? how noticable is the lock up when turning?
im debating getting this or a tru-trac differential.

Not so fast sparky. I can almost guarantee neither one of us would hear that locker clicking over our tires and exhaust.
It really comes down to how you use the truck, if it is all DD then the DTT is better cause it will lock up for a launch like the locker and give better traction than the locker on road. Like if you start spinning it will give the power to the other tire and get you goin. The locker will just keep both tires spinnin.
I want a locker though just cause it's pure bad ***.

I run straight pipes and a heavy foot so I don't think I'll hear it. I also have a stick so I can push in the clutch around corners if need be, I heard that helps.
My engine build I'm planning out for after the lift and gears is going to be cammed up pretty good and stroke a great amount so I definitely won't hear it then.

str8 six, I too live in Michigan(southeast) so I have an idea what type of conditions in which you drive. I have had a Truetrac in my '08 Screw for two years. This my third winter with it. The Truetrac is great, one of the best mods one can do on a vehicle that spends much of it's on the street. There is NO noise, when it locks up the only indication is that you now have much better traction. On rare occaision, if you gun it turning a corner, or if there's a little ice under one wheel, especially when turning a corner you may feel kick in the rear as the diff locks up. But, for the most part, the unit's function is completely transparent. Hope it helps to some real life testimonial. I know that I wanted to talk to those who were running the various rear ends before pulling the trigger on a several hundred dollar mod that I might not have been too pleased with.

I had a Detroit in my 72 mustang, with 2.75 , 3.0-, and finally 5.17 gears. It is definitely loud, and noticeable. On dry pavement it was awsome, as good as a spool in a staright line, with noiceable affect on cornering. However in wet or icy conditions it sucked. If there isn't enough friction to allow it to uncouple, both axle shafts stay locked and the car oushed like a battleship. Might not be abig deal in a heavier truck, but sucked in Mustang. All that being said I will have one in my next Mustang, which will be a fair weather ride only.
