re-gearing quick question
hey guys, im new to the forum.
i have an '04 4.6 4x4 and its on 37s with stock gearing
so its pretty sluggish and the fuel mileage sucks and all lol
so my question is how much did you pay for regearing from your local shops just to get an idea if its gonna be affordable for a kid thats works after school
thanks!

I paid $250 an axle for install. I've heard of cheaper install prices. I got the gears and everything online, check ebay. It was right at $1000 for everything. Expect to pay between that and $1500.
Alright thanks I thought it was going to be ridiculous! But that's not too bad. I'll go around and ask the different shops around my area and see what kind of prices come up. And I think 4.88 are correct for 37's?

Try livin' in Canada. I paid around $1200 for Yukon 4.88's with install kits, from Accuautoparts.com, and another $1200 here in Canada, for the install.
But once I got the 37"s, I was sure happy I spent the cash.

here they charge 1300 just for install.
Jeez some of these sound expensive! Offroadn98, where do you live and got that price? I live in Florida and jacked up trucks are pretty common down here so hopefully it will be pretty cheap.
And is there a big difference between Yukon gears And cheaper gears or are you just paying for the brand?

After they did it, i told them i was going to go easy on them for about 500 miles or so. He said they got them in there good. He said motives were pre broke in but it wouldn't hurt to take it easy on them if i wanted. SO i probably didn't go that easy on them.
So i wouldn't say i speed too much but i def don't waste time getting to the speed limit(maybe a hair over) and im just plain rough as hell on them. 6,000 miles or so thus far and they don't make a sounds or "whinning" that everyone says comes with the motive gears
