power steering/steering squeak

so ever since i had the this truck, theres been a squeak from the steering when parking. when turning the wheel either way, there is a very loud squeaking/moaning. it doesnt seem to do it when at higher speeds, only when parking or backing out. the tierod ends seem to be in good condition, as do the ball joints. although i might go buy a grease gun and trying the needle lube trick and seeing if they are the problem. i also was told to bleed the system. and the way i was told to do it was jack the front tires off the ground and turn the wheel lock to lock until the froth disappears? any help is appreciated. taking a 1300 mile road trip this winter and im trying to get everything squared away

ETA: 2000 F150, 4X4, 5.4L, 172k miles
