Question CV axle squeak?

Hey there, I have a 99f150 4x4 4.6 with a 5spd manual. For the last month or so I have had a squeak in the front end not associated with brakes and has to do with speed rather than bumps. I jacked it up today and it seems to be coming from just inside of the innermost CV boot at the point where it meets the front diff....What could be causing it to squeak and is there any easy fix?
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

any tears in the boot?

easy fix would probably be to replace the whole thing. i think there might be some differences in cv axles used for your year. there was a recent thread on the subject. do a search and most, if not all, of your questions will probably be answered.

dude, i am having the same exact problem. i had this squaek for the longest time..i know its definately not the brakes or wheel hub...i had the dealer look at it several times and they state its the rubber boot itself, nothing internal. i dont believe them 1 bit.. they said theres no rips or tears and theres no leaks...so they want me to bring it back in tomorrow and they said they gonna check and make sure that the cv joints and all are lined up in there proper position. if that doesnt solve anything im not giving in until that noise is gone.

if you have the time it is a driveway fix and doing it yourself will save lots of money.

if you allot 1 to 2 hours to do the swap then you should be good.
