Im actualy in the middle of putting my new transfercase in now.

You can try putting the truck on jackstands and put it in drive and get down there and listen to whats making the noise, yes its dangerous but its what i did to figure out where the vibration was coming from. I wouldnt say crawl under the truck with it in gear but you can get down next to it with someone in the driverseat to hit the brakes just in case something goes wrong
From what I've hear through a well seasoned mechanic, there's also a bearing in the rear of the T-case that will prematurely wear out from the angle change caused by the lift. Since I have to replace that seal anyway, I'm going to check that bearing while I'm in there.

Older the mechanic the less they like lifts. 9 times out of 10 they blame aftermarket equipment for the "easy" way out. Its possible but proper lift kits take the angle into play and compensate with angle blocks and such to compensate and correct potential issues. Check your U-Joints, and CHECK your tires again! My 2k had this problem, two shops told me Tie rods, ball joints, idler, pitman and all that ****. Guess what? I put 2 new tires on because someone slashed mine, vibration GONE. Its not hard for a wheel weight to slide on the rim or fall off all together, as well as for the tech to misalign where the weight is to be mounted.

did you all think about unbalanced drive line
i have a jeep that makes a vibration i know this ain't n.a.g.c.a but the problem in that is the transmission od going out drive with your over drive off and see if it is in the tranny
Also it could be the rear end walking on you might have to put draglinks on

06hdfxst- Just so you know when you take your seal off on your transfercase you can not inspect the bearing in the tcase. You will ahve to remove the tailshaft and a wire for your speed sensor in order to see this bearing. After I got my transfercase off today I did this and found that there I was no play in the bearing. I believe it was a bearing farther inside that went bad. Good Luck

First off, the mechanic mentioned is like a 2nd father to me who wouldn't try to feed me BS. He's also a former pro drag racer, long time hot rodder and owns more than one 4x's. Not to knock your post (I do appreciate the input, I mean I did ask for it), but the wheel weights are stick on's (yes I understand these will and have come off in the past) and the tires were balanced at more than one shop by different techs who all gave me the same response "they're fine".

I never thought about the possibility of OD going out, but I'll check that tomorrow. As for the rear end, I doubt this because it literally started on the way home. Now I have considered the possibility of the driveshaft throwing a weight. I haven't checked that yet either. Seems every time I start messing with the truck again, I either get called out with work or something else pulls my attention away from it.

Thanks bud. As for that speed sensor wire, where is it located. Just figured I'd ask since I have the ABS light on.

Just got a chance to put the truck in 4HI while the vibration was happening around 50mph. The vibration almost completely went away. Sooo yea.......now what? Is the problem in the T-case or somewhere else in the drivetrain?

And to bump my own thread again......

I FINALLY GOT THE DAMN THING FIXED!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not going to take the credit, since I finally gave in and let someone else do it. But I will give credit where credit is do. For anybody in the Tallahassee, FL area that needs 4x4/transmission work, go see the fellas at Florida Transmission.

It turned out to be the IWE hub vacuum switch. Who'da thunk. Apparently the front axle was locked-in so to speak, but the T-case was in 2HI. Thus causing a constant binding within the drivetrain. So yea....$167.67 later, I got 'er back in fine working order.

Now if that daggum FX2 grille will hurry up and get here I'll be one happy camper.

THANKS AGAIN GUYS FOR ALL OF THE SUGGESTIONS AND HELP!!!

glad to hear you got it fixed. and the speed sensor is on top of the tailshaft. its basicaly the last wire on the rear of the tcase. the sensor itself is held in by one small 8mm bolt i believe
