Squealing/Squeaking on Startup

I own a 05 5.4L 4X4 150 with a tow package. I have noticed recently that when I start up the truck in the morning, it makes a squealing noise for a brief 3-5 seconds before the engine idles down...after that it is fine. Has anyone had this problem, or does anyone have an idea of what it might be?

Thanks.

Since it only does it for a few seconds on cold start up I would say it is your belt. Is it original? If so, a Goodyear Gatorback belt might be in order. They resist the slipping that some guys have complained about under hard acceleration as well.

It could also be your fan clutch, alternator, power steering pump, or anything else driven by the belt.

I was experiencing a similar noise. I was about 1500 miles overdue for my oil change. Got an oilchange and the noise is gone. good luck.

I was having the same issue. went through everything, alt, psp, belt tensioner, idler, and fan with a stethoscope. Everything checked out OK. Changed the belt, noise is completely gone.

I just started developing one in my alternator, with belt off and spinning everything by hand it was rather easy to find the source, but in your case I would do like the others and check out that belt...

Thanks

I didn't really think it was the belt, but I'll look into it. Thanks for the advice. Since the weather has gotten a little nicer I haven't noticed it.
