Need Help JUst back from Dealer
Alright guys so need some help here hopefully you can assist. I have a 2006 5.4L F150. Went to the dealer with a little issue where my truck bogged down on me this morning on the freeway and the little wrench light came on. After restarting no problem truck seem to run great but I figured better safe than sorry so I had them do a diagnostic test. They come back and tell me there's a problem with my throttle body and the motor for it is going out. Now I have the extended powertrain warranty but apparently the throttle body is considered an "accessory" to the engine so it isn't covered. Anyone had a similar problem cause I honestly feel like this should be covered. If anyone has any ideas I would be greatfull. They also discovered one of my wheel speed sensors was malfunctionng which would explain why my abs light randomly comes on. This one sounds like an easy fix I can do myself. Anyone ever replaced the sensor?
id ask them if the engine can run without a working throttle body? when they say no then ask them how it can be classified as an accessory since its necessary for the engine to run.
ie make them do it free
ie make them do it free
Ask them to show you in the warranty policy manual that the throttlebody is not covered. It will tell you what is and isn't covered. If you purchased it through Ford, they can run the vin and part number through OASIS and it will come up as a covered or non-covered part and can be printed out. But you need to make them show it to you in black and white.
Unfortunately I did just that and they did show me that it was not covered. After talking to management though we were able to lower the cost. Originally $564 and I was able to get it $200 out the door still not free but they can still help a customer out. Thank you Ford
