Just want to see if anyone had a parts diagram for the 97-03 F-150 front axle assembly. Not sure what it is called: Exploded parts view? Illustrated parts breakdown? if anyone has some pics or a link that would be great.
Reason being: My front end started making a thumping sound, and i diagnosed the sound to be the passenger side inner axle was sliding in and out about 1/8", with the axle flange hitting the axle housing assembly. Trying to figure out what i need to replace.

 

the axle should be bolted to the housing and the hub nut should be holding it in the hub.

you've got some serious problems if your diagnosis is correct.

 

Well, i pulled out the front axle center section, checked everything and all was in order. diagnosed the problem to a mis-adjusted lower shock mount. seems the shock was rubbing/popping on the lower mount.
Axles kind of made the same sound, but i bounced the suspension with the center section of the front axle out, and found my noise.
***NOTE TO SEL*******Do not consume multiple alcoholic beverages when installing new shocks. Chances are you will miss something.
