Big rock + differential cover = Bad!

So last weekend I just replaced my rear axle seals, rear brake pads, and new differential fluid. Everything worked great...no leaks on the differential, so I was happy!
Well today I got new tires and I wanted to try them out off road in the snow. I went up in the mountains above my house that had about 12-14 inches of snow on it and the tires did great! I got to a point at where I wanted to head back towards the pavement and couldnt turn around so I was backing up and got about 20 feet away from the pavement and I hit a big snow covered rock...right on my newly resealed differential with 60 dollars worth of royal purple oil in it! It bent up the bottom corner of the cover and I dont think any oil leaked out of it(I will double check the fluid level in the morning) But I got home and cleaned it good with some brakleen, then squirted some rtv in the gap and hammered it back so it was flat. I sure hope it didnt leak out my royal purple!

Brake cleaner removes RTV. Check the fluid level and keep an eve on it. Your pounding may have warped the cover so it might leak. Next time you have it off check it with a straight edge.

No leaks so far but I might just go buy a new cover anyways. I dont want to spend 250 on a mag hytec, but I might buy a chrome one or just another oem. Whats the easiest way to suck out the fluid without contaminating it?

Use a section of rubber hose fed into the fill hole and siphon it out. Note: DO NOT SWALLOW THE FLUID.
