Post Speedo Gear Part #'s ?

My truck has 245/75/16 tires in place of the stock 235/##/## tires. I have extra wheels and my brother is giving me the 265 firestones of his Z71. My truck has a 21 tooth speedo gear (plum color). The speedo is off 6%. By my calculations, I need both a 19 tooth and 20 tooth speedo gear to cover both tire sizes. Does any one have these part #'s. My dealer seems unwiling to help me find these gears despite the fact that I pulled the gear and drew them a blueprint.

They want to sell me a $50.00 speedo recalibration. The parts guy told me the gear won't change the speedo reading. I know better-garbage in = garbage out. This sure seems like a "make work" situation from the Ford on down thru the dealer.

Thanks

Your part #'s are:
c8sz 17271 b = 20 tooth orange
c7vy 17271 a = 19 tooth tan

Web address to determine this is http://www.finer.com/Internet/pages/speedo.htm

I might have an extra 20 tooth to get rid of for $5.00
Good Luck

Mine was 20 teeth with a right-hand slant; it was black. Not trying to stir it up, but maybe the table isn't correct?

Cool

TJohnston,

Those are the right numbers. The gears list for $7.23. Wholesale was $5.42. My favorite parts guy at our local dealer found the gears using my drawing and the Ford speedo gear book even though there is no listing for the 97 and up F-150. I installed the 20 tooth, and now my speedo seems to be dead nuts. Thanks for your reply.
