ORP and Towing package?
Forgive me, guys. I wasn't quite sure what topic to post this under.
I bought my truck used and had never heard of the ORP or Towing Package. I'm now trying to figure out if I have either. How can I tell?
Thanks, fish.

Dewayne,
Thanks very much for your reply! You've cleared up most of my questions. I do have the ORP, and at least part of the TP, unless it comes as a "no-option" type package, which would make my next question moot.
(I had to buy the 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor, but I'll assume that was lost by the previous owner.)
How can I tell if I have the heavy duty alternator, battery, and cooling system? and don't all vehicles come with tranny coolers nowadays?
Nice stable you have there. How do you like the PIAA's? I bought 4 Daylighters, but have yet to mount them. Do you still have your 'Bird? I've got one, too. '90 SC.
What's that Datsun doing in the list?
By the way, do you have pics of the finished NAV/150?
Again, thanks for your time. fish.

Gofish,
A few more thoughts. Look at your drivers door factory sticker. Here is mine:
Also, have a Ford dealer run your vin number through their computer. It will tell you everything about the truck, including recalls, factory repairs etc.
PIAA's I use for off road and hunting. Good value. Datsun PU was used when I was moto-crossing for bike hauler. The SC was sold for my current truck. Nav/F150 still in work. I'll add photos to my post in the General Section when available.

The only thing is with the 97' F-150's the 4x4's come with fog lights in the bumper...even without the off road package ( or at least with the lariat fog light swithch) and they dont have factory 4x4 stickers. And I didn't think they made 17inch wheels for the ORP in 97'.

In 97 the ORP got you skid plates. These could be bought seperatly....except for the front crossmember. Only with ORP. ORP got you 17" wheels, heavy duty shocks, fog lights, and a nice sticker.
Fog lights came with the optional off road tires as well (255's instead of the stock 235's), and heavy duty shocks came with the tow package as well.
Basically if you have a front crossmember skid plate and 17" wheels you have an ORP. If you have a factory hitch with 7 pin connector you probably have the tow package as well. You can check for the transmision cooler to be sure.
