New gears tomorrow.

I'm getting 4.88 gears put in tomorrow. I have been livin with 3.55's and 35 inch tires for three years. It's alot of money and it has been a hard decision especially with gas at $3.50 a gallon and knowing that I won't be driving the truck as much as I would like. But if I don't do it now I would just blow the money. I used the info from all of you guys to make my final decision. Thanks for all the info.

Your gas mileage will go up in city driving and probably stay the same on the highway.

4.88 will lower your freeway millage but be good around town ,4.30s are perfert for freeway if your concerned about millage, 4.56s you will suffer in both areas a little, the 456s are perfect for 35s as far power and driving is concerned.

The shop was unable to get the truck done in one day like they quoted me, but OH well I hope they do a great job anyway. Their quote was $1400 if all bearing were replaced or $1200 with replacing the pinoin bearings and not carrier or outers. Just depended on the condition of the bearings. The brand is Motive Gear. Hopefully I will be able to pickup today. I'm so damn wound up. I can't wait.

Got my truck back today and it made a huge difference. Total was $1330. All seems to be very quiet and smooth.
