Which electric locker?

I plan on doing my gears sometime this summer. Yukon 4.56s, I wont ever run 37s, just to clear it up. Now, I plan on either getting an auburn ected up front or a eaton selectable. which one would be better to go with? i dont offroad much so I would use it maybe 3 or 4 times a year, mostly helping people get unstuck whenever the time will come (tnsilver) or the occasional mud adventure. What are my options for the rear? keep in mind this is my daily driver and is used to make about 2 or 3 long trips, 4+ hours on hwy, a year.

The Auburn functions as an LSD by default and then a locker when selected, where as the Eaton is an open differential by default and a locker when selected. If you rarely use 4wd, then having an LSD and a locker is not really needed. I would opt for the Eaton e-locker. It was the original, and has proven very reliable.

Alrite, is the LSD only used when in 4wd? what are my options for the rear?

Yea you only notice that its a LS when its in 4 wheel drive. The LS by itself is pretty sweet. The locker is just insurance. For the rear its Detroit Locker all the way for the 9.75

i run a detroit locker in the rear of mine, pavement princess for the most part. i love it and wont change it. i have 37k on my tires, i still have tread left. i can probably squeeze out close to 60k.

i think a auburn gear in the front would be cool for my truck. i like the idea of a LS that can lock as needed. the LS can probably get me through plenty, and if i get the front end stuck and spinnin one tire. flip a switch and pray to god i dont need my winch, or a new CV lol

honestly its not as bad as people think. The locker is so aggressive that you cant turn the wheel at all. Just make sure your wheels are straight when you engage it. You dont really have to worry about popping a cv. If you have the wheel turned, it will cause a lot of stress, but if you are smart about it it will pull you out of some hairy situations. sure we would all love 35 spline dana 60's up front, but the 28 spline 8.8 isnt as bad as we all think. There is just more thinking involved.

in 4x4, only lock it up (selectable) with the steering wheel straight. Go REALLY EASY in 4-lo. You have 4.56's and in lo its a 2:1 ratio, so your truck in 4-lo is really a 9.12. You will have a lot more power than you think. Remember that locker adds a lots of stress on the rearend. You r9.75 can definitely handle the 35's, and the 4.56's, but just keep in mind that when that detroit kicks in you've got a lot going on in there so exercise caution when gunning the throttle.

I will only use it in hairy situations, so that means hardly ever, its just gonna be insurance in case i get in a tight spot. I figure i might eventually have to pull someone out. Knowing you, it might be you.

Hey how is that detroit doing in the rear? Im looking at getting a fulltime detroit in the rear, 4.56, and its going to be s/c so is it going to be able to handle all that? Also i was told by the local offroad shop that we had aluminum teeth in our front hubs and putting a locker up front would destroy them. Any truth to that cause i wouldnt mind getting a locker up front for mudding instead of just an lsd.
