Disturbing noise

Crap, I have been hearing a noise lately that is probably not good. Got a 04 screw 5.4 with a 3" leveling kit and some engine mods, it has about 62k on it. The noise though seems to be coming from under the truck, somewhere along the middle. I hear it when coasting and driving slowly. Seem to notice it more when I turn too. It is a light pinging or popping sound. It has a fairly rapid beat but I have not seen or felt any evidence that it is hampering the performance. I started to notice it after a weekend at the ranch. I wasn't hotdogging it that I can remember. I haven't hauled anything heavy, just normal driving and the occasional lead foot. Please help!

Would I just get a grease gun and hit the nipples under there? Or....take it to the autoshop? How can you check that anyways?

If they are OEM u-joints, they are sealed with no grease fittings. If you replace them, you can get greasable joints.
