Few gear questions

Just wanting to get a few questions answered to decide whether or not I want to get gears. I have a 4.6L V8 2wd Auto transmission with stock gears which is 3:55 right? I am looking for a little more pep. What would be a good size to upgrade to? How much will it affect my gas mileage? If anyone has a size suggestion where are you on rpms at 60 mph?
Thanks

Depending on your tire size ... 4.11 would give you some more pep with stock tires and up to a 33'' tire, 4.56 for 35'' tire, As far as MPG usage depends on your driving style... you will burn a little more with the 4.11's... I like to be in the 2200 to 2600 RPM range at 60... My 4.56's with the 35''s does this fine in over drive...

I would say 4.10's would be perfect for you.

Find out your gears

I don't know if there is a "stock" gear ratio. I think 3:55 is more common that 3.08, however I have the 3.08 and its a dog. If you have a 3:55, then don't do less than a 4.10 other wise the difference you are looking for may not be there (i.e. 3.73).

There should be a little tag on the rearend that will tell you what gears you have...
