1998 Driveshaft Help?????
Hi I hope someone can help me out,
I am currently looking for a replacement driveshaft for my truck. I have been referred to Cardone for the necessary part. I have a stock 1998 Ford F150 4x4 extended cab 4.6 with a A/T 4R70W transmission. I have measured my driveshaft and it is much bigger than Cardone's recommended (Cardone Driveshaft) part#65-9453 states........mine is around 68" total maybe around 52" u joint to u joint.
My question is: Is the F150 extended cab driveshaft the same size as a standard cab?
Thanks

Driveshaft length is wheelbase dependent. I don't have the exact specs, but I think there may be 4 different wheelbases - short cab/short bed, short cab/long bed, extended cab/short bed, and extended cab/long bed. It's possible a short cab/long bed MIGHT be the same wheelbase as an extended cab/short bed.
Well why wouldn't an extended cab shaft fit a regular cab? All the extended cab is, is well...an extension on a regular cab! The box is shorter than a reg cab but the overall length of the truck is the same isn't it?
1998 F-150 4X4 wheelbase data:
Regular cab/short bed: 120.2"
Regular cab/long bed: 138.8"
Extended cab/short bed: 138.8"
Extended cab/long bed: 157.4"
Flaresides are the same as short bed Stylesides.
EXACTLY as I suspected - there are THREE different driveshafts.
An extended cab/SHORT bed shaft should fit on a standard cab/LONG bed truck.
Regular cab/short bed: 120.2"
Regular cab/long bed: 138.8"
Extended cab/short bed: 138.8"
Extended cab/long bed: 157.4"
Flaresides are the same as short bed Stylesides.
