My 93 4.0 V6 4x4 3.73 Ranger got 18 highway, 16 Mixed and 10-14 towing about 2000 pounds.

My 97 F150 4x4 4.6 V8 with 3.55 got 18 highway, 15-16 mixed and 12-14 towing the same 2000 pounds.

My 2000 F150 4x4 5.4 V8 with 3.55 has gotten
over 18 highway, got 17 this week in mixed and gets about 14 towing the same 2000 pounds.

There is not a lot of difference in fuel mileage between the 4.0 V6 and either of the v8 tritons.

My 99 Lightning gets a consistent 16 mpg mixed highway and city, when I can keep my foot out of it.

My 97 f250 ld with 4.6 at and 3.73s gets about 16 plus or minus 1/2 city/hiway. In the winter we have oxigenated fuel so with warm-ups it drops to about 12

2000 5.4 with 3.55LS gets about 17 MPG currently at 3300 miles.

BTW it's a S/C flareside

I had a '95 Ranger with 4.0 5speed that only got 20-22 MPG

Just came back from a trip of 840 miles of highway and around 50 of country road driving.......got exactly 17.6 mpg with the 5.4, 3:55 L.S. extended cab. Didn't use any climate mode that would make the A.C. run. Went around 350 miles on the highway before filling..probably could have eeked out a few more, but the guage was LOW by then!

16 to 17 is typical for me on the highway but that typically includes some mountains. I have gotten 18 on one tank. My around town is almost 13, but Its not stop and start "city" driving, I have 4.6, 3.55's, 28,000 miles.

Just did a trip to the west coast (5000 km). Averaged with all the city and back road drivin and on the Trans Canada just short of 25 MPG after I converted it back from metric. That's a Canadian gal. eh!

'99 F150 2wd Ext. Cab - 4.6 auto. with 3.08 gears.
My advise would be to get 3.55s if you can the 3.08 are just a little too tall and cause the trans to shift frequently when in the mountains. Good gears for freeway drivin though. Have got as high as 27.5 MPG on the flat - no wind - at 100km. (perfect conditions).

When I take it easy above 18 mpg, with several times getting 18.5. Mostly get between 17 and 18 though. If I do alot of towing and mudriding it will get down in the 14 and 15s.
