Which Limited Slip?
Which Limited Slip?
I'm going to have a shop change my open differential to a LSD. The sole purpose of this truck is to pull a 2100# boat/trailer. My reason to get a LSD is due to slick ramps. With that said, what do you guys think between these two choices?
A Detroit Truetrac (TT) or OE Track-Lock?
The guy at the shop says the OE Track-Lock will do just fine for this applicaton but from what I read, the Detroit Truetrac does not have a clutch to wear out and locks better, also more expensive.
Any advice is appreciated.

Eaton-Posi or Auburn are nice units as well. As soon as our TracLok fails, I will replace it with an Eaton-Posi or Auburn Pro. Don't forget, there is an Auburn Heavy Duty and an Auburn Pro. The Auburn Heavy Duty is a nice selection for the price. These units require friction modifer in the lube. Eaton-Posi doe's not reccommend synthetics if my memory serves me correctly?
I've done a bit of research on the different types of units. From what I've gathered I decided to go with a detroit tru-trac over a clutch style limited slip.
The tru-trac system is very similar to the torsen style that is used in the original Humvee. My impression is that the tru-trac is superior in every category when compared to any clutch style limited slip.
I would suggest searching around with google, there are a lot of forums with user created articles on them.
