Could someone explain the difference in all the ratios being thrown around? And for which applications are each ratio recommended? Someone had a tidbit about the 4.88's whining out the engine on the highway? (explain) and would that be any part due to the tire size?
Thanks Guys!
i was not trying to change the forum,. i saw the truck profile, and daw he had the same tires i was wanting to buy,....... but i have ordered them they are being put on today, if they fit with a 2.5 leveling kit, if not i will be lifting, and maybe new gears also......komho 35x12.5 mt. lets hope they fit. :santa: someone told me today 4.88 is too low of a gear. i dont know

It depends on your application. Do you tow? Do you drive highway or city more often? Are 35's the biggest tire you will run? Each of these questions comes into play. On this forum the rule is 4.56 for 35's; 4.88 for 37+. Im running 35's now and 38's in the future. I save $2,000+ dollars by "overgearing" now. Yes the "engine whine" would be due to the tire size= more revolutions.
