Rear axle swap, which codes to look for?
I have a 96 F150, the door code says H9, which reads as a Limited Slip 3.55.
What do I look for to swap it out? Can I get any old Ford 8.8 axle with 3.55 gearing? The local salvage yard has several vehicles with the door code "19".
Is there another code on the axle itself I should be looking for? Other items I should be looking for? I've already noticed several different styles of pinion flanges.
This is intended only as a cheap/temporary fix. For the time being, I have no need for positraction, it doesn't make a bit of difference.
