Gear Cost

What does it cost to regear a truck. I will be getting 35's and 6" fabtech lift put on my truck. I have a 5.4 L F-150 Ext Cab FX4.
Hopefully these gears won't cost that much!!

Thx!

I just paid 850.00 to just have the rear done. I will have the front done in a month or so.

I went from 3.55's to 4.10's.

parts about 350.00 (rind and pinion and master install kit)
labor about 300.00
other 200 was shipping of the parts/taxes/oil and additives/ shop supplies.

Not cheap but so far I like the grunt.

Hills that used to cause the torque converter to unlock or a downshift to third no long phase the truck.

It's not the gears, it's the labor. It requires specialized tools and training to set up a new gearset.

If you have a 4x4 and plan on using it, you'll need to do both the front and rear. You can get away with just the rears if you never plan on activating the 4x4 option. I'm not entirely sure if theres a prolonged effect from doing it that way though.

Hi Dallas - at least 4.56's ( and perhaps even 4.88's?)

See Kevin24's thread in this section.

Begin to use the Search feature - gears have been discussed many, many times.

Also - have a look at this chart: http://www.oly4x4.com/gearratios.htm
