Swaping rear ends?

If i were to find a 9 inch rear end from a doner f150 with the gears i want would i be able to just swap the rear ends assuming that the doner had drums and what not. WOuld the drive shafts mate right? I know that there are a couple difernt splines. Is this even possible?

I think you would have better luck and less headache by getting a rear end from a 5.4L truck. An older truck with a 9inch may not match up well. I say try to find one at a junk yard or a swap meet. That way you can be more sure of the driveshafts matching up.

I agree. A 9.75" with the same brake setup would mate right up, driveshaft and all.

Not positive, but I think the only F150s to come with 4.10s are the HDs. I could be wrong. And yeah, you're probably gonna have some trouble finding that.

Really? WOW i would have thought that it would have been an option on the FX4's and Others. Im asuming that the E150's have the same rear end but i wouldn't find a 4.10 in there im betting.

Yeah don't take my word for it lol. A friend of mine has a 7700# with 4.10s and I've never heard of any truck other than his coming with 4.10s stock. So that's what I'm basing that on. I'm pretty sure I've seen on here that only the HDs have 4.10s as an option.

Also the earlyest year i found them in was 2002. In 2000 i know it wasn't an option and i couldn't find any info in 2001. Does nay one know what year tehy went to 14mmx2 studs for the lug nuts? It had to be around the same time.
