need help on axle??

My dad has a 98 F150 ORP with axle code 19.

As far as I can tell this is an 8.8 with 3.55s

We are wanting to upgrade to the 00+ F150 axle with Disc brakes. I keep finding info that the 00+ is a 9.75 axle. I am confused what year the axles were swapped?

all i can find is
19 is 3.55s Non LS
H9 is 3.55s LS

I cant find any info. I hope someone can help me sort this all out! thanks

What engine does her have. If the 4.2 or 4.6, more than likely it is an 8.8. If it is a 5.4, it is a 9.75. Also look at the axle tag. It will have something like 8 8 or 9 75 within the numbers. With a 19 code it is definitely a 3.55 non limited slip.

Probably an 8.8. Look at the diff cover. If it has 10 bolts, it is an 8.8. If 12, a 9.75.

if you have the 8.8 is it hard to swap in the 9.75? maybe even the disc brake version?

has any one done this swap?
