03 v6 with 35's 4.56 or higher?
Hey guys I'm putting 35's on my 03 f150 v6 2x4, and so i'm going to need to regear so it isn't sluggish. I talked to a guy at an offroad shop and he said that with the v6 i should go higher than a 4.56. What do you guys think? also, i have a friend that can install it for me. What does he need to do it? just the ring and pinion or something else? i have a guy offering me this brand new for $140 http://www.4wheelparts.com/PDT24394.aspx

That gearset looks correct. You'll also need to buy a master install kit, which comes with bearings, shims, etc... If you notice, that link says "ring gear may require modification". If going (numerically) higher than 4.10s then you will not be able to fit the crosspin back into the carrier. You can either buy a modified crosspin, which I think is around $35, or you can file down a couple teeth on the ring gear until you can fit the crosspin back in. I have heard about the modified crosspins being weak and snapping, so I had the shop grind the teeth on my 4.56s. However, if the person who will install the gears for you doesn't know anything about this, it would probably be easier to just get the modified crosspin. Your 4.2L isn't exactly putting out massive amounts of power, so it should be fine.
where is the best place to buy the ring and pinion with the master install kit that is cheap but still good quality?

It's not absolutely mandatory, but it's a really good idea to get a master install kit instead of a minor. The master has all the same stuff, but includes all new bearings. You don't want to pay to have everything rebuilt, and then in 10k miles have to do it all over again because a bearing went bad.
The cheapest gears I have found were on Ebay. I found a brand new set of Yukon gears (pretty high end) and Yukon master install kit for my front differential for $200. Easily saved myself at least $100 right there. If you have no luck on there, try www.accuautoparts.com. That's where I bought my gears for my rearend from. As far as quality goes, you probably won't ever notice a difference between the cheap ones and the very expensive ones. I myself bought the cheapest ones I could find, and have not had any issues in ~15k miles. Cheap gears may be a little noiser, but I still doubt you'd ever notice so long as they are set up correctly.

I've never heard of them, and they are pretty inexpensive, but I don't see anything wrong with them. My guess is that if they are installed correctly and you completely follow the break-in procedures, you'll never have an issue with them.

My RPMs are only a little bit higher but I can climb any hill with ease and have a great hole shot now
