Eaton E-Locker vs. ARB Air Locker

Has anyone used either of these two lockers on their trucks? I have a 2000 4x4 Expedition and i want to replace the front and rear differentials with 4.56 gears and lockers. These are the two i was looking between because i can use a limited slip when im not in need of a full locker. Thanks.

i have a ARB up front and a detroit in the rear, i was looking at the eaton E-locker but when not locked it is a limited slip, and with our CAD (center axle disconect) it would spin the driveshaft when in 2x4 mode, this is why i went with a ARB up front locked when you need it and open when you dont.

Not that I have looked into lockers for my F150 but it I ever do one on my 5.0 GT I'm going with a Torsen T2.

http://www.torsen.com/products/T-2.htm

http://www.2kgt.com/item.php?itemid=76

But if I had to pick between the 2 I would go with the Air Locker.

I have the A4WD model.

What gear ratio would be the best combo for fuel mileage and performance if i'm gonna plan on running 35 or 37 inch tires?

Take a look at the Auburn Gear ECTED. It's alot cheaper than the Eaton E-Locker and works almost identical... And the make it for the front and the rear of the new f-150's

35s = 4.56 or 4.88
37s = 4.88 for sure

Use this and make up your own mind.

Figuring gear ratio with different size tires.

Divide the old tire diameter by the new tire diameter and then multiply by the current ratio. So a stock 87 5.0 GT tire is 225/60/15 or 25.63 diameter and say we put a 255/60/15 or 27.04 on.So 25.63 divided by 27.04=.9461 then multiply by the stock 2.73 gear and get 2.588 which is definitley not a drag gear.
This is a good site for comparing tire sizes http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp .

35's with 4.10 gear is close to 3.55's (3.41), with 4.56's is close to 3.73's (3.79).

I hate that Detriot is only folks that make a locker for the 9.75. I really want a selectable locker for the rear.

open or locked? you like spinning one tire when you nail it? the full on detroit locker works GREAT in the rear of my truck. no excessive tire spin on asphalt unless i want it to. the ultimate is i can powerbrake one tire on asphalt and one in soft dirt or gravel without unloading to one tire
