I have a 2004(new body style) FX4 F150. Is there a code or reference on the VIN sticker which will tell me what gear came with my truck? Thanks for any help.

 

I dont remember what the vin code position happens to be. You are either running 3.55 or 3.73 and if you have the 7 lug rims-4.10's.

 

Thanks, but I'd really like to know for sure which it is, so when I order a tuner from Troyer I can let him know. Not in a real big hurry as I probably won't order it for a couple weeks.

 

its either the 3.55ls or 3.73ls. I have the 3.55ls I want to change gears. Go out and get your VIN and post it up on here and I am sure someone will tell you what ya got.

If you crawl under the truck and read the differential tags, for me it was the tag on the right as you look at it from the rear, it will tell you the ratio. Make sure to clean tag. Also the first number is stamped real close to the bolt hole so look close. If you are looking at the tag, its the bottom set of numbers if you were holding the tag level.
