Question 1997 4x4 Problem

When i shift into 4wd from a standstill I can hear the clicking when the drive engages and the light on the dash comes on, but the truck gets kind of jerky like it is not enaging the front wheels. It also seems that there is a grinding nosie. There is no noise or other problem when the truck is in 2wd. Does this sound like a bad hub?

im assuming you have the floor shifter?? your linkage is probably out of adjustment. you want to be moving when you shift into 4wd.check your transfer case level also.

My shifter is on the dash. When I shift while driving it seems like the 4wd is enaged, but if I come to a stop and have to turn I get the same jerk like it is engaging and and disengaging.

Thanks for the reply

alright, could be your electric shift motor is acting up. when you turn the **** it takes like 5 seconds for the 4wd to fully engage.its not instsnt.still check t-case level and fluid condition.
