Question Sounds Like Aluminum Cans

Has anyone experienced a sound similar to that of twisting an aluminum can? This usually occurs when the engine is cold, during the warm up phase. The Ford Tech said it is just that catylatic converter. And this is normal. Is this normal?

The sounds come from movement between un-even dissimilar metals due to the different expansion/contraction rates. After a while, the parts 'fret' themselves solid and the noises go away -- or the spot welds cannot take the expansion and panels fall apart (as in the catylitic converter shrouds of the Escort series in the late 80's).

One day you'll notice that you haven't heard the tink-tink-tink any more and will think back on this as just one of those things.
