Your truck has a Borg-Warner 44-06 transfer case.

You sure? I thought that Explorers used the 44-05 and 44-06 cases? 44-05 was the Control Trac A4wd, and the 44-06 was the AWD case.

Joe,

Check Section 308-07A: DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION, Transfer Case
The Borg-Warner 44-06 manual shift and electronic shift transfer cases are a three-piece magnesium design.........

That's the part I was looking for yesterday... couldn't find it....

On a side note, I wonder... could you replace the guts (or just swap out) an AWD t-case from an Explorer? Hmmm.... now it's got me thinkin'.... AWD t-case from an Explorer (rebuilt and beefed up by Oasis Engineering, of course) , trans from an Expedition, and a Lightning motor.... Hmmmmm....

This is the same idea a friend had. He has a Lightning blower on his lowered 4x4 truck.
