Exclamation Gears....

Okay, I read all the threads and have questions of my own.

I have a 1997 F150 scab 4x4. Open diff w/ 3.55 gear ratio. Also running 315/75/16 Pro Comps. I tow a trailer a couple times a week. At cruising speed of 65 my truck shifts into O.D. and I am at 1700 rpm.

1. What would you prefer, 4.56 gears or the 4.10's. I am doing front and rear.

2. While I am getting it done, I am getting some sort of posi in there. I was reffered by the shop to use the Traclock in rear. I was told it is the clutch kind and the Trutrac is not with clutchs. What to use and why?

Keep in mind I do some freeway driving but mostly city with Oct. to Dec. in the mountains hunting every weekend.

I would like to get a couple ideas from different people if possible. Everyone has their own thoughts. I appreciate your time.
Thanks,
Jason

(With 35" tires 4.56 would be a minimum. If you have a 4.6 engine 4.88's would even be better.)

(The "Trac-loc" is the Ford OEM limited slip differential and it does have clutches but that doesn't mean you need to use a diff with clutches they where-out over time. The Trutrac is clutchless and would be an excellent LS diff for towing much better than the Trac-loc.)

Agree 100%, the Tru-Trac in the front is about the only limited slip you can use because of your center axle disconnect, being a gear drived LS it will not spin your driveshaft when in 2WD. Hope this helps.

I ordered my 4.56's Thursday (Motive high performance) they should be here
Monday hope to get them in by Thursday and will go to Bristol to see M. Troyer (at Ford Fun Weekend) to get my tuner re-done for new gears. I've really done a lot of debating on what gears to get, 4.10, 4.30 ect. I guess I would have gone with 4.30, but couldn't find the reverse cut for front axle. Anyway, i sure hope the 4.56's will wake up my 4.6 4X4!
