Post What gears do I need?

I just got a 4 inch rancho lift and 33 inch tires on 16 inch rims ( see signature for exact numbers) I need to know what gears to go with. I was thinking about 4.56 but I have read this board alot and some say 4.10's are good. I have not found anyone with the setup I have on here so I need some help please.

Thanks y'all

Well I'm Planning the 4.56's but I'm running 35's. Why not split the difference and get 4.30's ?

well my orignal tires were the stock 17 inch rims but i am unsure of the actual tire size.
I called 4 wheel parts and they said the front couldn't be changed to 4.56.
I have seen several people on this board that prove that wrong.
I need to know exactly what parts I need and what company has the best. I was looking at Summit Racing. I have no idea how to tell which gears I need and what else goes with it.
Thanks for the help
I talked with Mike Tropyer yesterday and he suggested I find my RPM's at 60 MPH. He said they need to be at about 2200 RPM. I haven't gotten that data yet.

I dont think you will be able to find a 4.30 ring and pinion for the front end.You will have to choose between a 4.10 and a 4.56
If you are happy with your current tire size and plan on staying with that size I would go with 4.10 if you want 35s someday,go with the 4.56
I have 4.10s with the 32s that came with my truck and I feel it is just right

I have pretty much decided on the 4.56's, because someday I may decide to go to 35's.
Now if anyone could help me decide which gears are the best...money is no object here I want the best quality.

FDLFDCoD,
Myself and Gimpkiller (he has a 4X4) both bought US/STRANGE gears. GIMPS ran him just over a grang for BOTH gear sets and install. My 4.10's cost me $180.00 plus $68.00 for the complete install kit (shims, timken bearings, gasket, loctite, etc, etc) Tax was $19 and change. About $250.00 for the install. I spent over 3 months doing my home work , searching the 4x4 mags, internet etc etc before buying the US gears. Gimp told me in the beginning, that the US gear was very well know. I believed him, but wanted to do my own reasearch. Well I found out that US gear was the best (from talking to many shop mgr's) Also Precision gear's are good as well. Stay away from Richmond gears, they are not made in the USA. Good luck w/ your gears. and it's a good choice to go w/ the 4.56's if your getting 35's someday.

im curious why everyone is saying to go with the 4.56 gears if planning on running 35's someday. maybe its because im a 2wd, but i have a f150 xlt auto and run 4.10 with 35x12.5 bf all-terrains. i like it a lot and since i need my truck for highway more than offroad use i feel it is the perfect fit. am i doing something wrong here or is this just a personal preference? i also heard (correct me if i'm wrong) that if i did run the 4.56 with my setup that i would only be able to get about 65 on the highway...another reason i opted for the 4.10.....let me know what you think!

Hey Ragin Cajun I live in dallas area in Mckinney and would love to see your 2wd. You need to hook up with us dallas folks for some fun. We have a Tx club that gets together quite a bit in fact they are all going down to San Antonio 4/14-4/16. What year is your truck about telling us some more about it. I have a 2wd with a 3 inch lift and 33's. Email me and tell me your number and maybe we could hook up sometime. extinguishfire@netzero.net
