When I press in my clutch pedel it squeeks and is driving me nuts. Is this normal sound is definetly comming from inside transmition.
Any ideas on how to make it stop would be apreciated.

Does it squeek the whole time the pedal is depressed or just when the pedal is pressed and released? If it squeeks the whole time the clutched is engaged then it may be the throw-out bearing, if only during pedal movement then it may only be the linkage making noise. In either case take it in to get looked at. Your signature says you have a 98, it should still be covered.

Sounds like the clutch slave cylinder needs replacing. I had it done twice on my '98.

There are other posts on this elsewhere on this message board. Do a search first under "all open forums" before posting new threads, okay? Try this thread I found for you with the search engine: https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000283.html

Yup. That's it. When you push in or let out the clutch. I thought it was something I could lube but it's inside the clutch. Something to do with clutch dust dropping on the shaft of the slave cylinder. There's an upgraded slave cylinder out now. My Y2K doesn't squeak. Have the job done while it's on warranty and insist they do a search for bulletins from Ford to ensure they have the latest slave cylinder. Don't let them install an old one from stock unless they assure you it's the latest model. Otherwise, you'll be back for a clutch re-and-re and that's expensive if you have to pay for it.

I've noticed that when I have the clutch out I hear something like a low vibration (or so it sounds). When I push the clutch in, the vibration or noise seems to go away, almost as if someone turned down a volume **** and it fades to no sound (does that makes sense?)
Is this a normal sound? It is quite quiet, but it's there.

defacto: When you hold in the clutch pedal, you are disconnecting the input shaft of the trans from the flywheel. So the input shaft stops, therefore, no sounds of the shaft and its gears turning, nor sounds from the bearings supporting it. I think every manual trans I've had has been quieter with clutch pushed in.

thanks Granpa, I had a feeling it was nothing to worry about, but since this thread was here I figured I'd ask. If it gets any louder then I'll worry about it.

Well, I have the squeak too... It's definetly the dust because it only does it after driving for a while, and only when pressing/releasing the clutch, took a look under the truck... I *was* going to lube it with some white lithium lube stuff (as recommended by a mechanic friend of mine), but closer inspection revealed nothing I could see moving so I guess it's internal.

I'm gonna go next week and ask for a *new* slave cylinder. Think I'm outta warranty though, any knoweledge on the price shifter?

Thanks

I have not looked at any (damned tri-focals), but have seen other instances where there's a nylon bushing at the pedal pivot -- and those plastic things get dry and squeak. There's a special plastic lubricant (don't use WD-40 - it seems to make things worse) that works pretty well -- and molybdynem disulfide (sp?) grease has worked for me in the past.
