Question Radiator Service

Hi all,

The odometer just hit 50k which means its time for the radiator to be flushed and refilled. I just got back from the service and was checking everything out and noticed that the level (cold fill) after the engine cooled for 10hours is about 3 inches below the mark. I never really noticed this before. Ford mech. said probably just an air bubble and they will top it off. Im curious if this happens alot or maybe I just didnt notice. But out of curiosity, how many of you have your cold fill level right on par?

I recently did mine, and on refilling it took a couple run-then-check cycles before the level stayed at the 'cold' line. I was a bit worried at first, but everything's OK now.

I have the tow package which comes with two auxillary coolers (not sure which is which). I beleive one is a cooler for the power steering the other is for the transmission. Do either of these take in radiator fluid?

Nope! One takes tranny fluid, the other PS fluid (same stuff, different system).

There is a 'thread' in either the "Engines" forum or the "Transmissions" forum that covers tranny and PS coolers. Use the Search feature if you don't find it first try.

BTW, mine's not a Triton, jes' a lowly 302, so I don't have any of the fancy coolers.
