Vibration/Shaking at 50+ mph

when i get up to 50+mph the truck is shaking pretty bad. Tire pressure is good. Could I need a realignment? Or could it be something else?

I am afraid you've opened a can of worms with this question.....I think 90% of all new F150 owners have this problem....I've seen it blamed on alignment problems, tires, driveshafts, to the stiffer frames our "new" F150's have...My '06 had/has the same shake...it's gotten a little better...I have almost 6k on it. I had the dealership rebalance the tires with their "new" load balancer. It did help a little, but its still there.....You just get use to it after a while.....join the crowd.....anybody else????

The problem without a doubt is your tires are out of balance. This happened to me and that solved it. Give it a try, it's pretty cheap.

Rotate your tires and see if it changes. If it does go have them balanced and checked for them being out of round. A good balancer should be able to check/see that.

I had that problem on my GMC, 3 tires out of round and impossible to balance although it was fun to watch the jackass at sams club try.

they are brand new tires, so it's gotta be the balance. I guess I'll start small and work my way up.

Another point I was told, if your tires were balanced on the inside, it's prone to happen, which mine did. Looks nice but pain in the butt when they go.

I have lifetime balance at Discount and I noticed after i had my tires rotated last my truck began to do this vibration business. Major pita with 22s because outside weights aren't an option.

Does it cause the tires to wear any faster? Or just bug the **** out of the driver?

Any vibration isn't good, but tire wear may or may not be noticed. When mine did it, there was times it seemed like the tires were vibrating in sync and caused the truck to shake like hell. I'd stop and drive away then it wouldn't be there. Going too long may rattle certain things loose and trust me, tell me how your arms feel after a long trip, ciao for now!!!

mine did the same thing, i had to keep getting it alligned, was a temporary fix, then itd just start back up again, noticed my tire wear was goin on the insides real fast, so i bought a steering stabilizer, fixed the shaking problem for good! havnt had a problem since. idk if your truck is lifted, or if you can put them on non lifted trucks, you would have to look into it .

were the tires static balanced or dynamic balanced. if the weights are only on the inside it probably is static balanced, which is not as good as a dynamic balance. you can dynamic balance the tires using sticky weights on the inside of the rim right behind the center section. any good tire shop should know how to do it. hope this helps

the rims/tires came "balanced" and they have some weights on the inside of the wheel.

what year is the truck? mine started the same thing, i had a vibration at around 45-50 mph, i had the tires rotated and balanced, that didn't solve anything. it turned out to be the passenger side wheel bearing. the vibration got worse, then it started to make a grinding sound. jack the front end up and check to see if the wheels have any play.

Gentlemen, I have had that problem for about 2 months. I have a 2004 4x4 crew cab with a 6 inch pro comp suspension and a 2 inch leveling kit, before I put the kit on I was running 35 toyo tires on 20 inch hulk rims if the problem was there I did not notice it as bad. I decide to put on 37 toyo tire on the same rim with the 2 inch kit and pro comp latter bars. Now, between 65 and 75 the tail gate seems to want to viberate off. Had the tires balance about 4 times by two different shops and had a new set of tires and even had a new set of 20 inch hulk rims installed and nothing same crap. I took it to another 4x4 shop closer to home, after my main installer told me to deal with it. At the other shop the guy installed dual steering stabilizers, nothing different. Took off the 37's and put on stock rims and tires, same thing at the same speed. Took the truck to a drive shaft specialist. Nothing wrong on the lift they could not see a viberation, when taken for a test drive the truck did same thing. Now the truck is at another shop and this guys seems to be trying different things ( well, I hope! ) He actually said that it could be the lug nuts not being seated properly. After this I am done and most likely trading it in for some other truck like a chevy product. So, prepare yourself for the head ache of having a truck you really like and want to keep. I hope it's just a tire thing. Good luck! Any other ideas on mine would be appreciated.
