Question gears mods.

98-4.2 5 speed 308 want to go to 355 or 375 bought a new house with very steep driveway, now having problems backing boat into drive. Will this help going to a 355 or 375 and how much should i expect to pay for this mod.
Any help is appreciated.

Bassguy, If things do not work out with f&b let me know because I just did a ring and pinion swap on my 99 with the 8.8 front and rear.Truck was turning 10,000 miles as I pulled into the shop to have the gear change done. I have no use for them so I am letting them go cheap. You can see my ad in the classified section here.

Yes it will make a BIG difference. I had a 97 with 5-speed and 3.08. I had it switched to 3.73 while keeping the 235/70/16 factory tires. Air filters and exhaust are cool, but the only real difference I found in the RPM's I drive ( below 3000 ) was the gear swap. My only advise is to find a shop that specializes in gear swaps, like a 4x4 shop. It's a difficult thing to do correctly.
