Problems with 4x4 electronic shifting?
I am thinking seriously about a 2000 4x4, but I have heard that Ford has serious problems with the electronic shift mechanism on the transfer case. In particular, I was told by an expert mechanic (who works on 4x4s all the time) that Ford had some early engineering problems with the system, but instead of re-engineering it they simply used a larger servo, which causes its own problems.
My question is for those of you who have a 97-99 with the electronic shift, does it work well? Any problems? What are the pros/cons of electronic vs. manual?
Thanks.

The only problem I have had was reaching for the A/C control and accidently throwing her into 4x4 mode. Nothing hurt so...
Other than that I have had no problems. Some say that they would rather have the shifter but I say no way! Very clean look in the truck and it always goes in. No wondering whether it is in or not! Isn't technology great!
