3.55 versus 3.73
Hi all, Just wondering what effect, if any, the change to the 3.55 axle on the ORP for 2000 will have? I know the 3.55 gets a couple mpg more than the 3.73, but what's the difference in towing ability and 0-60? Is there a noticeable difference between the two and why is Ford no longer offering the 3.73? Thanks!
I think the reason why ford got rid of the 3.73's is because they can make it up with the low end torque. Both dodge and chevy have higher gear ratio's, but don't produce as much low end torque as the ford. Also, fuel economy isn't sacrificed by using a higher gear ratio.
