auto to manual hubs

I want to convert to manual lock outs. My 95 150 has the 3 screw caps and from what I have read here I need to replace the spindle nut as well. What I am wondering is, I have an old 85 150 with auto hubs with the 5 screw caps. Can I just use the spindle nuts from this truch and then get a set of Warn manual hubs as a bolt on replacement?

Yes, but buy the warn hubs 1st, some come with the spindle nut sets and you may not need to rob parts. Ford in the late 80's into the '90's started messing with different hubs and spindle locking nut sets. So prior to all of that they were all the same in the 1/2 tons.(locking nut sets)
'85 with auto hubs huh? Haven't ever seen that one.

Godd luck.....

Don't grease manual hubs, just a light coat of oil.

I did my Dads 91 and my uncles 93. We bought the warn kit (about $100 for the nice ones with metal handles and 75 for plastic) and it was basically just a swap of the caps and and the locking mechanism. I don't remember having to swap the axle nuts or anything like that. It has been a while and I could be wrong but if you buy the kit from warn I think everything you need is in there because I know we didn't by anything else. And yes, very light on the grease with the hubs (Especially the autos because it will cause them to not dissengauge properly.). And don't forget to pack those wheel bearings while you are at it. You have it that far apart might as well do it right.

Hope that helps.
