Years the 9" was used

I'm searching for a used F150 but I don't want it if it doesn't have a 9" rearend in it.

Anyone know what years Ford put a 9" in the F150 as a standard rearend?

Thanks!

1986 was the last year for a nine inch in a 150, started using the 8.8 rear after that.

Yeah but make sure you check the years before 86 though because they can have the 8.8 as well, I had an 83 150 and an 84 bronco that had the 8.8,

Have to ask.... are you sure you're looking for the 9" and not the 9.75? The 9" has been around for a long time, but never in a '97-up F-150.

Mid 80s was a fuzzy changeover for the 150s and broncos.

No, I'm looking for the 9". I don't expect to find it in anything as new as a '97. Besides, I don't want anything that new anyway. All I want is something cheap with a 9" in it that I can use around the farm until it won't run anymore. Then I can reuse the rear end in something else later.

I think I'm looking for anything from the '70's to around '86 then.

You're best bet would be in the 70's, but every now and then you can come across an 80's model with one in it

OK, just makin' sure.... I noticed it was your first post, and in case you missed it on the home page,

"....site for owners and enthusiasts of the late model Ford F-150 and ...."

A 20 year old truck isn't exactly a late model. Heck, most of the trucks that had the 9" in them are elgible for "Historic Vehicle" plates here in Michigan.

Oops, I guess I did miss that. I do currently have an '03 F150 Heritage Edition though, so I'm not completely out of place.

Thanks for your help everyone!
