broken plastic gear shift

broken plastic gear shift

i have a 97 f150 and the plastic gear shift with the o.d. on/off broke off wires and all. how do i replace this? jim

You will have to buy the handle from Ford. Installing it is pretty easy though. First remove the steering column shroud. Then unhook the rubber boot. Follow the wiring to the connector, and unplug. To remove the handle, you just have to tap out the pin holding it into the shift column. Just be gentle doing this, as the shift column isn't terribly strong. Then do the reverse to install. Pretty straight forward once you get the shroud off. Should take less than 30-45 minutes good luck
