Post Rear Axle

Just wondering if anyone could help me understand this.

I purchased a 2000 F-150, XLT, 4x4 extended cab, with the ORP and the 5.4 Triton V8 engine.

On the window sticker it lists, the axle as being 3:55 gears with a regular rear axle.

How is the 'regular rear axle' different from say a 'limited slip' rear axle, or is there any difference.

Regular axle is an open axle (non limited slip).
