4x4 problem

lately, my floor shift 4x4 has been sticking in 4wd after I shift back to 2wd. Eventually it it goes back to 2wd, but it makes me nervous driving on pavement in 4wd and things that don't work properly kinda bug me anyhow.

Has anyone else had this problem and what's the cure?

Thanx for any advice...

when you shift back into two wheel drive are you on the move. I am not sure if it is required on newer trucks but with older ones once you shifted back in to two wheel they recommended that you drive in reverse for about 10 to 20 feet. I have a 99' with the shifter on the floor and I still practice the old way and have never had that problem. I have had my share of problems but not that one. Hope this helps you out.

4x4 problem

I just had my 2003 F 150 4X4 fixed, i was having a problem of it slipping outta 4x4, floor shift, the mechanic changed the gear pattern, he told me there is no adjustment on the linkage, but he can change the gear pattern so it locks in better, before i moved the shift lever straight back to move into 4x4 high, now i have to move it back and shift it to the left, tried it, works good, problem solved.
