General question - Snowplowing?

I was just wondering if any of you use your truck to plow and what types of plows you are using? I was considering a 7'6" Meyers stl for my 98 f150 supercab. I have the 4.6L engine and 6250 gvw. I would just be doing small lots and driveways with this setup. Is it a bad idea to plow with these trucks? Thanks for any info

I'm gpoing to offer a personal opinion here. I do not recommend plowing with any 1/2 ton truck - especially one with IFS. There's just too much additional stress on your front suspension and drive train. On top of that, you're dealing with an older truck (probably with a few miles on it) that only has the 4.6 liter engine. It's going to be a bit weak.

That said, a Meyer plow is about as light (and light duty) as they get and if you just plowed your own driveway and removed the plow when not using it, you might be OK.

We plow with a fleet of F-250 and F-350's using Fisher 8' - 9' plows - and still bust a ton of stuff. (We're doing apartments, shopping centers and schools.) I'd suggest that you'r ejust asking for trouble here. Good luck!
