what gearing?

ok my truck as far as i know is stock in the gears department.
i get like 14mpg (4.6l 4x4 auto, 97 xcab) average right now with 285/75/16's. eventually i want to run 315/75/16's when i get a 6" lift. what would be a good gearing to run? i do probably 50/50 highway and town driving. since town is only 5 mins either direction.

i want to keep some power to get and go (not like i have much now), pretty much just a happy medium.

what is your gearing now 3.55, 3.73, 3.05 ? this makes a big diffrence on what my anser would be to you, you can check the door code or you can check the tag on the rear diff to find out

i looked at the tag on the door being cold wet and dark outside. the code says H9 under the |axle|...but to me that means nothing since i have no clue of what it is.

if you still want to get good highway miles i would go with 4.10, if you want more power and towing go with 4.56 you will lose some on highway but you might gain some in city
