Can anyone tell me how I can determine what transfer case I have in my 1997 F-150 styleside shortbox truck 4.6L auto transmision. I find myself needing to figure out how it is mounted and or why it appears to be leaking alot of fluid between it and the tranny. I know it shakes at low speeds and there is a viberation
any help?
Thank you

on the rear of the transfer it is stamped with the type, and a manaul will tell you what seals will go out caus a leak,

It should be a BW4406 case. Its a married mount case. Its held onto the transmission with a few bolts. Most likely if its leaking between the transmission and transfer case its the seal between the 2 that has gone bad. To replace this it requires removing the transfer case.
