Post Rear diff. leak??

I have had a leak in the rear diff. for around 6-8 months now, and I was told that it is a bad pinion seal. It occurs where the driveshaft meets the rear diff, but it is not a major leak, no puddles in the garage, and everytime I have the fluid checked (every 3000) the level is fine. has anyone else ran into this and is it expensive to fix?

This repair is not to expensive. The dealer I work at would charge 1 hour of labor to replace the rear differential pinion seal. The pinion seal is about $20.

I looked under my truck and found oil all over the bottom side around the diff. took it to the ford dealer and the seal was bad. He told me that they see alot of this problem. fixed under warranty.

I have 5500 miles left on the warranty so I am looking over truck about every other weekend to make sure I get all points covered.

Just had my 99 fixed 4,000 miles. In and out in one day. Leaking pinion seal caused it.

I dont think this is an expensive repair...if youre thinking of changing gears now would be a good time.
