Speedo fix

I have'nt found any posts on this topic but I'm sure this is the place to get an answer. I put 35's on my truck a couple of months ago and finally got around to doing the ring and pinion "4.56's". My speedo is way off now, the speedo reads 83 @ 70 mph with my GPS. How can I fix the problem without buying a programer??

You need a chip or a tuner set up for your tire height and gear ratio.

It's like a new truck. Tons of low end grunt off the line and real zoomy on the freeway. I have'nt checked the milage yet but I'm sure it will be a little lower due to me jumping on it all the time. If you do a lot of freeway miles 4.10's might be a better choice, the RPM's are a little high, 2500 @ 80 MPH. But getting to 80 is tons of fun compared to the 3.55's. I don't think my truck is a racer or anything like that but I can't wait to find me a Hemi and see what they have for me. The truck's a LOT faster then it was. From 0 to the legal speed limit of course

The chip or tuner can only change the speedometer calibration on 99+ model year trucks. Prior to 99 Ford used a VSS gear to control the speedometer calibration.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'll start shopping for a programmer. Can anyone tell me which has the best bang for the buck???
