I'm doing the same thing this week, cant wait! I have a question for you though. Are your gears marked with a FORD logo or part #? I ordered mine though the speed shop that's doing the work but the gears were in an unmarked box and there is no FORD stamp or recognizable part #. The differential was wrong and I told him the gears weren't motorsport either and he didn't argue with me. He's reordering them.

Gears

I dont remember If they had a mark or number on them.
But I do know that they came in a Ford Racing Blue box and had the pinion nut with it.
I was supposed to get my gears in by a friend of my wifes last night at his shop for free, but after he finished an alignment that took too long it was 730 at night so he said he will do them on Tuesday. I have been waiting 3 weeks for this.
Yeah make sure they say FMS on the box to be sure what you getting. How much did you pay for the gears? I guess they are all probably the same But I like the Ford Name.

Sounds like you got the generic brand set. I think you did the right thing by making them reorder the gears for ya! Make sure you see the box they come in and like the previous poster stated the box will clearly be marked with Ford Racing Logo. I've put gears in a 2000 GT and 2001 Cobra and both times I made sure the gears being put in come out of a Ford Racing Performance Parts Box!

Gear ?s

$1150 is the price I got for the parts and installation, including Motorsport 4.10s, Detroit TrueTrac diff and bearings kit. But I think the gears alone run about $200.

The mustang guys like the FMS stuff even though its a little more expensive.

Thanks for the feedback. I would like to know if the gears themselves have a FORD stamp or part number but the ones he tried to give me were in a generic box. I'm sure they weren't FMS.
