Superior vs Yukon 4.10 vs 4.56

Ok here is the dilemma I am going to be lifting my truck and installing 35" tires. Now I have been told by Randy's ring and pinion that I should only go up to the 4.10's that the 4.56's gears are to much and will have my trucks RPM to high at highway speeds. Then I called Drivetraindirect and they told me 4.56's all the way they do them all the time for our trucks. Now keep in mind this is a daily driver with mild offraoding and I also use it to tow a wakeboard boat that is about 5000lbs. Also one place sells Superior gears and one sells Yukon gears both are made in the USA and are high quality but who has used what and how is everythign with them? All info on this is greatly appreciated.

I have had excellant luck with U.S. Gear. Never set up a Yukon or Superior gear. U.S. gear manufactured in USA (near Chicago, IL). I have had some issues with a few Richmond and Motive gears.

Richard,

Going from 255s to 35s with 4.10s will give you an equivelent of 3.52:1 and if you use 4.56s you will have an equivelant gear ratio of 3.92:1 based on OEM specs of 3.55:1.

I would opt for the 4.56:1 gears. Your MPG might even improve because you will need less pedal to get going.

IMHO if you get 35 inch tires and use 4.10s you will slow down your truck. I heard of a guy in Penn. that was charging $1300.00 installed for everything.

R/P & master brg. kit would probably estimate parts around $400 TO $450 (U.S.) for each diff. Master kit should include all but axle brg's. & axle seals for axle's.

Well it looks as though I can get front and rear gears installed for about 1200-1400 using US Gears with new seals and bearings Timken of course.

JMC I am not running 255's tires I am on 285 and the truck came stock with the 265/70/17's Currently I have 3.55 with the 285/75/16's

Richard,

For 17 inch OEM tires change the nunbers to 3.70:1 if you went with 4.10s and 4.12:1 if you go to 4.56s.
