Smile 4x4 CV Joints

I have had to replace all 4 of my CV joint boots recently, I wondered if anyone else has had this problem.

No mine have held up pretty good so far. Did you replace them yourselve? How much did it costs?

You know everytime I rotate my tires I put some Armor All on the boots. Don't know if it helps but it can't hurt.

No, I had the dealer do it, warranty. It is odd that both sides go out due to "defective" boots. Thanks for the reply.

Question

Are your torsion bars turned up?

That will cause premature failure of the boots!

kkirt,

I do the same thing! I don't know if it helps but in all the front wheel drives I have owned I have never had to replace a C V joint. And once while doing this I discovered a blob of grease that indicated a small split that allowed me to get it replaced in time to avoid a failed joint. If I hadden't been under there doing this I would never have known. I highly recommend a regular cleaning and replenishing (Armorall) of the boots for prevention or dry rot. I think it helps.
